Have you ever gone out to dinner, or perhaps a public place and saw everyone’s faces glued to their phones and mobile devices? Or maybe you haven’t because your face is glued to your phone too.
I can’t count the times I have gone out to have a nice dinner and have seen whole families with all their faces glued to their phones. Just as if no one was there and they were by themselves. Is that not shocking?
Couple’s on dates, family dinners, get together’s, gatherings and everyone is completely not present because they are lost in their…. I don’t even know what, facebook? I know I am not perfect and I have been guilty of this too but the difference is awareness. I am aware that it is very rude, disrespectful and just not right when I am ignoring my company.
I even see people walking out into them middle of the street when they are crossing and not once did they even glance up to see if there was traffic because they were glued to their phone’s screens! I mean c’mon really? That is insane.
Albert Einstein knew…
The reason I was inspired to write this and make this post is because I came across this video on facebook (with my face glued to the screen funny I know)… But it really hit me, and made a lot of sense. Check it out:
We need to wake up. We need to live life, enjoy life, get out there and do wholesome activities. I think it just comes down to awareness. Be aware of what you are doing and your environment. Become aware of how things affect you and how your actions affect everything around you.
Have some respect and enjoy dinner with your family, friends and loved ones! Put the phone down, it’s not going anywhere trust me. Whats going somewhere are the moments you have. The precious moments you have in life. The ones that can’t be replayed and rewinded like this video. Don’t take that for granted.
Don’t get me wrong social media and technology is great, but just like everything moderation is key. If there was one message I want to get across it would be AWARENESS. Just simply raise your awareness and appreciation for everything and everyone around you. Remember you are in control of you. Don’t let this “social phenomenon” rule your life!
And if you catch the irony in me sending the message of awareness and how there is no denying that social media actually does help bring new knowledge and awareness to the masses – DEPTH is better than WIDTH. 😉
